I Know Nothing about this... I think It was A RollTop there are Holes in the Top Sides!!! I want to find room in my house for it But I Have plenty...

This is a pretty common double pedestal desk. Probably 1950's to 60's. They were commonly used for teachers desks and in public office buildings years ago. It was never a roll top but may have had a hutch, which would indicate an office rather than a teacher's desk.
Nice to see all wood furniture. Cant abide the modern nonsense that falls apart if you open a draw. One day I shall clear my desk, because mine is from the 1930's and it was in a shoe shop in Swansea, Wales
My neighbor has one from her husband that ran the first major stores in our town. Early 1900 s. Also the right side slides out to write on.
I spoke to the person that "used" to own it. He said that it was brought here by his Son(pilot) to CA from Japan is that possible? OR picked up somewhere along the way. I cannot find any markings on it... maybe they were on the top part that is missing... the Hutch Part?

The original owner's story is quite believable. If made over seas it would have been called an Abbess desk. These were made with removable proper for two reasons. The desk proper is what we call the top. First of all the desk was heavy to move all in one piece. Secondly if the top/proper was attached it wouldn't go through a doorway. Keep in mind that when these were built 20 & 24 inch wide doors were still common.
I have one of these desks! I had no idea it was that old, but I do know it is HEAVY!!
It's being used as a computer desk, although I'm sure that wasn't the original purpose of a desk this old. I've never looked to see if mine has any marking on it, but never really looked for any.
I have a desk very similar (almost exactly) to this one. It is taking up to much room and I have to get rid of it. Is it worth anything? If so about how much? I would not want to throw it on the dump if it has some value. If not much I will try to give it away.
