As a medal collector this is as close to a Pulitzer Prize Medal as I’ll ever get. The Milwaukee Journal won the Pulitzer Prize in 1919 for it’s “strong and courageous campaign for Americanism in a constituency where foreign elements made such a policy hazardous from a business point of view.” (anti-German editorial policy in Milwaukee.)
Since the Pulitzer is the highest honor a news paper can get the Journal was justifiably proud and issued a heavy brass paper weight showing both sides of the Pulitzer Prize Medal. The rectangular plaque rests on four balls of two different sizes so that the top is displayed on a slight slope.
