This is my glass ink well that has been used as pencil holder for the last 15-20 years.
    The bottom is octagon.

It measures 2-1/2 in high and 2-1/2 inches across. It looks clearer in life than it does in the photos.

It seems a cork plugged the top when not in use.

I wonder if the hole belongs on the bottom and a tea light belongs on the top...?

I see what you meant AZTOM but I don't think it's a Leerdam piece with that base.

      Thanks,
Maybe someone will know something about it.

I am pretty sure it is an inkwell.
I had a quick look around but despite seeing some there is no ID that I could find.

Thanks racer, I kind of thought that originally, hence using for a pencil/pen holder for years. Then I saw those beautiful vases, lol
Cleaning it up I realized that the formation of the hole extends down below the top. If you had if half full or so, you could tip it upside down and it wouldn't spill.

      Thanks for the loves!
