Heavy Cast Iron painted Hare with Basket . Toothpick Holder comes to mind for Basket on Hare's back, beautifully painted . Hare stands 8 inches tall , Red pants , Boots on feet , Ruffled shirt with tie and jacket . The piece is not signed that I could see.

This is definitely right up my alley!! I love this. I have quite a collection of rabbits and hares, many of which I have posted on CW. I saw one very similar to this one the other day. The head was a separate piece from the rest of the body, of the one I saw. This one is just great. I love the woodland type rabbits and hares.

Great quality on this antique casting. There are significant quality difference in these old pieces vs. modern garbage.
Could be for tooth picks or matches.

Thank you ALL for the comments , I saw him 5 yrs. ago sitting on a shelf at SalvationArmy , grabbed it quick , brought it home and dusted him off . The only issue was his basket is no longer attached to his backside (as seen in pic ) as it once had been . Scottvez , I could see the Hare with stick matches in basket , the quality on this cast is very good . I haven't a clue as to age of piece but I love it !
