I had been looking at these vases for a while on the interwebz, umming and ahhing about them. Eventually I bit the bullet and purchased them, suffered the terrible postage cost to Australia, and am now almost happy.
I would be really really happy if I knew who made them - my search continues.
They are both gorgeous and beautifully made. To my eyes, they are so very Japanese although I am sure that some might think them a bit Bertil Vallien.
I have oftened looked at some of Vallien's work and wondered if he spent time in Japan.
There is definitely an Asian aesthetic in parts of his work, and this style is so integral to the Japanese glass art world I don't think they have been influenced by him!
Just my thoughts however, so others may disagree or know better.
You may wonder what the little wing is for. Nothing I am aware of.
I call these an appendage and I regularly see contemporary Japanese glass with appendages that appear to have no function.
They just are.

Beautiful Karen :)....What an interesting design and colors. The little applied tabs are an unusual touch.
Ha,another different design from the Far East!
Its simplicity, assymetric and I think symbollistic approach to a handle makes me think about Japanese gardens...
Thanks Michael (being formal tonight). The tabs are just for quirk.
They do have their own style Ivonne. It would have meaning, I'm just not on top of it. Thanks, I always enjoy your comments.
They look lovely together, similar yet different. More interesting than a conventional pair.....
Thanks Peggy. I agree that the pair work well together.
No idea .............................but Drooling !!
