We purchased this desk and chair at an estate sale for $40. It is stamped as being made by Karges. I have looked online for desks like this made by Karges and can't locate anything. The desk has a glass top. The fabric on the chair seat is not the original. We purchased it for a daughter who wants us to shabby chic it for her walk in closet. Personally, I think it would be a sin to paint it. She wants it a blush pink...yikes. I think we should clean it up and sell it. Thoughts??

Before you paint - check out 'Kneehole pedestal desk'. Yours has some nice elements, the indent in the center, the decorative edge along the top and the feet. The pulls are Chippendale ring style pulls. It looks to be mahogany to me. Can't tell if there are actually 9 drawers, or if one is a file drawer. And the legs are unusual with the added 'bump outs'.
Everything Karges did (and continue to do) is handmade and can be customized and sells REALLY well as vintage!! I DEFINITELY would refurbish, NOT shabby chic it! You got a deal!

file drawers on either side...daughter is set on refinishing it...but its hers soooooo I guess Dad has another project :(
