I discovered this in a second hand store in Phoenix, Az. It appears to have been outside or in sunlight for a long period. Inside picture shows one of 3 similar figures. The lid has a design, also. I used one of my 4 pics to show me holding it for size, example. Me 6 foot. The basket is 'tilted', and is not broken or weak. Very HARD and STIFF. My thought is tilted for access to such a large basket...and short women. Some dimensions; Overall height 29" approx., Largest diameter 21" approx., Lid 17" x 1-1/2" I'm dying here...what is it?

If you had an Arabian Flute, I could imagine a King Cobra dancing out of the top.....

It isn't Native American, it's from Lombok, Indonesia. They were popular imports in the 1930s era, and often used, as mentioned, as props in plays and movies involving "snake charmers."

It's single-rod, coiled construction, and appears to be made from nito vine, a tropical vine used in baskets, that varies in color from light tan to dark brown.

Thank you, CanyonRoad. The age sounds right. I was hoping for better luck but, I'm glad to know.
