I just like the look of these old type telephones. I find it incredible that these things still work after all these years. You can't say too much about products we bought from the 90's too the present.

You have a standard Western Electric 302 set. It was manufactured from 1936 to 1954. The early 302 sets (1936-1941) were made of "pot metal" die cast zinc alloy. In 1941 they were made of thermo-plastic and were available in five colors:
ivory, pekin red, dark blue, gray green, and old rose. One thing I have to say is Western Electric Co the manufacturing arm of the Bell System made a telephone to last, not like what we buy now.

    Thanks ttomtucker
Glad you're knowledgeable about these phones, they're a classic...it is a 302 thermo-plastic...although the hand set seems to be bakelite....any ideas about what to use to polish it up...I've been to a few sites where they say use Novus plastic polish or chrome cleaner and even amonia and water...I'm a little weary about the first two and afraid to use amonia on plastic.
    again thanks for the input

Most of the collectors I know use Novus, stay away from using amonia on thermo-plastic. I have used a product called Nu Finish, it's in a 16 oz orange plastic bottle and made by Reed-Union Corp. Chicago. Most hardware stores carry this product.
