Can someone in the jewelry collecting world help me with this? I found this among my grandmother’s things. I'm not sure if I don't know because it's not a "guy thing", or if it's just that unusual.

It’s it looks like an inexpensive costume jewelry locket, but instead of a place for photos, there is some sort of waxy substance stored inside. No idea what. Any ideas?

It's a solid perfume locket. Very pretty!

I had no idea "solid perfume" existed!

Is solid perfume still "a thing", or does that date this item to a certain time?

It was most popular in 1960s-80s, I think and your necklace would probably date from 1960s or 70s.
