My main area of collecting knowledge is glass, so I am hoping for the expertise of some pottery lovers out there for this one! :)

I love arts and crafts pottery, but only own a few pieces. I recently came across this piece, and not knowing who made it, I loved it and bought it anyway. It is 9-1/2" tall, and very heavy. After doing quiet a bit of research, I found the same shape attributed to Haeger (a well known Illinois pottery) but was only able to find two other examples of this shape. I found a green matte version shown on a table at a 1998 Haeger pottery exhibit in Wisconsin, and a glossy yellow version from a 2000 exhibition on the same website. (image 3 is from http://wisconsinpottery.org/Show/Illinois/index.htm)

So I have a few questions - does anyone know the name of this pretty matte blue glaze, or the shape number of this vase? Also, the two examples of this shape I found were listed as "early Haeger". Does anyone know what these date to, and if mine is also an early version?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

I was never really into Royal Haeger or it was never my thing . Because it is way too common here in Wisconsin. But these are very beautiful!!!! they look more like Rookwood a little bit. which is why these are so attractive looking and beautiful!!

Thanks so much, Sean! These are apparently very early pieces, so I am thinking around 1914-1920? This piece reminded me a lot of Teco in its shape, too.
Also, J. Martin Stangl left Fulper to join Haeger in 1914, and had a big influence on their pieces in both form and glazes before he left in 1919 - so a lot of the early Haeger glazes are very similar to Fulper, too.

(By the way, the dark green piece in the last image is Teco.)

Ooooh - love your blue Fulper, Sean - the handles are terrific! I know what you mean about Teco - so lovely, but I agree - soooo expensive!
