The Hawkes Cut Glass Co. was based in Corning N.Y. What makes this piece so very unusual is the "rope twist" stem. The stem was not cut in this fashion but two strands of glass were twisted with tools then connected together. The top was then put in place. Just a neat piece and I am pleased to have this in my collection. Dates from around 1900 or so.
