Hi,
I'm stumped by this item. It was in a box I inherited. The relative had horses and so it is possible it was farming related but quite possibly not. It has a clamp of sorts and is of cast iron. The only marking is the number 15 on the back of the clubbed shaped attachment.

I've heard them called "Wagon" vise, so that they could be mounted on a wagon and swung up when not in use
I've got the same one, it was from our 1857 farm, but not sure on the date of the vice.
Guessing at least 100 years old, and was a general purpose item on the farm as needed.

I have one also. Won't feed two at McDonalds so I leave it under the bench.
LOL sounds as if we all have one, mine has rounded ball on end, as others have stated called Blacksmith vise, and again called wagon vise, I refer to that term, as I live close to Amish and that's their term used mainly, lol
