I found this plate in a thrift store, it was a couple of dollars. It looked different and unusual, but i had no idea about Vaseline glass at that time. Now that i'm beginning to research on my ever-growing heap of treasures, i think it is indeed a Vaseline glass piece. I don't have black light, but i managed to get a glowing shot under natural light.
I'd like to know its possible age and maker. Thank you!!

appears to be 'stretch glass' which is iridescent. Shetlarglass has this as a cheese plate by Lancaster; from their color chart it may b Aztec:

TallCakes, thank you so much for the information. I haven't heard of stretch glass yet. It seems to fit the description!
I don't know if this is due to our computer resolution differences, but i checked the Aztec (marigold) samples at the bottom of the page you provided, and they look orange-y/brownish. The plate in question looks close in color to "Topaz" by Central Glass Works or Fenton as seen on the website you sent.
If it is Topaz which they say is also called "Vaseline", does it mean that uranium was added to this piece, or is it just the name "Topaz a.k.a. Vaseline"?
      Thank you again!

I was going by the written description at the top of that page for Aztec but not sure without real examples. Yes it would have uranium content and be Vaseline glass; Topaz was a name used by Fenton and others for yellow uranium/vaseline color.

also, did you check the cheese/cracker profile/section page to help ID maker:

unfortunately that site has small pics and no measurements but I did find a Northwood cheese set there to compare as often with these things is't not easy with pics alone:

TallCakes, thanks again for the wealth of information you've proved. It does seem to fit the cheese/cracker plate by Northwood. I'll have to take measurements of the plate at home for further research.

I think that based on the discovered information so far (and pending potential ID of the maker) i can go ahead change the title to "Stretch Glass Topaz Vaseline Cracker Plate".

Thank you so much as always for solving it, TallCakes!

Sean, thank you for the love and stopping by =)

TallCakes, i meant to type "provided" in the above reply, not "proved". Sorry for any confusion.
The plate measures 9 3/4" in diameter and is 3/4" tall. Its profile/section view matches the Northwood plate you gave in the links above. I think it's pretty accurate to say it's a Northwood item.
Thank you again for your help and solving this one!

Trey, Vetraio, Aimathena- thanks so much for the loves and stopping by!

the matching cheese dish is available on eBay if interested in making a matching set...
    10. AnnaB AnnaB, 8 years ago
Yes, i am interested, it would be great to have a complete set! I just checked ebay and didn't find one. Maybe it's gone... I'll keep checking. Would you be able to tell me what's the reasonable range they should go for in mint condition? Thank you, TallCakes.
