This beautiful desk (?secretary) is in the entryway of the museum part of The Society of California Pioneers. It was likely donated to the museum, as most of the collection was, by families of California Pioneers, though the exact donor is unknown. Similarly, I don't know much about the desk itself, but it does have a detachable shelf base, which can be removed from the shelf.
As you can see, this desk is being used by the museum to hold various other collectibles.
If you know more about this desk - what the wood is or who might have designed it, I'd love to know!
