I can't quite make out what this says underneath - Made Italy Exclusively for Luxaraldo or what? it's a little more than a foot tall. what's up w/ the gold paint too? some of it seems like good gilding but the skin tone seems to be wearing off. should i paint that part or what?

      There's a Luxardo Liquor, could they be associated? She's a beauty! :)

GIROLAMO LUXARDO ... wines and liqueurs. Is it a candlestick? Was it also a bottle? There are lots to of King Tut references in the bottles for Ardo ... maybe even a pun involving his name and Luxor?

yes, i found the info on Luxardo Liquor Bottles - there are quite a few collectors of them. i think that this is a very rare one, because i couldn't find it anywhere. it's a real beaut! and you may be right about the Luxor pun, Kevin. it was used starting in the 1920s as one of their things - same time as the king tut rave.

Ho2... It is in fact a liquor bottle. Archimede Seguso made numerous glass animal figural bottles for Luxardo in the late 50's early 60's. Because they were utilitarian, many were thrown out, so I'd definitely hold on to it. Based on the examples I've seen, I'd probably date this from the 60's. Here an example of the Seguso piece along with ceramic pieces more along the lines of yours: http://postimg.org/image/nifnr1w4n/ http://postimg.org/image/s5lpstjhj/ http://postimg.org/image/5uxusum7b/ http://postimg.org/image/9h3o5hskn/ http://postimg.org/image/if1rc4xg5/ http://postimg.org/image/82fgq23x1/ http://postimg.org/image/q6ihap1lh/ http://postimg.org/image/f62es505l/ http://postimg.org/image/5abiruju1/ http://postimg.org/image/7mhq78sid/
