For a period around the 1970s Japanese glass makers were keen on spattered glass and of course being Japanese they did their own style of it.
This vase is typical of the era. Made to a traditional baluster shape with a white inner and a light green outer ground.
Dark brown, yellow, and bronze-ish orange have been thickly spattered on and allowed to be quite random and patchy.
The spatter has only been lightly heated so it retains a lot of texture.
I really like these vases, and I think they show a real relationship to Japanese pottery.
Many makers did a version of this.
This vase is by Kamei Glass and has a sticker on the base.

Very interesting to see the Japanese take on spatter. Oddly though, in texture and spatter size, it's not dissimilar to the pumpkin rose bowl you found for me a while back!

I love this vase Karen, and I'll tell you why. As opposed to Czech spatter, I find the muted colors on yours more appealing. Also, as you know, I love texture, which this has in spades! Finally, I looove the larger spatter and low sheen! A wonderful piece of glass!

I agree the texture is beautiful and the unevenness of the spatter is very Japanese.
They have a real appreciation of the beauty of "imperfection".
I wish I collected Japanese glass and new where to get it from :) just beautiful
