No mistaking this is the work of one of my favourite designers Dorrie Nossiter. This brooch is so typical of her work, the silver leaves and berries mingling in between the Moonstones. The Moonstones have differing wonderful blue hue colours, very pretty. Each Moonstone cabochon are different in shape, size and hight, I've tried to capture this on the photos.
This brooch in my opinion is a wonderful example of her work. There are no hallmark has was usual for Dorrie Nossiters work, it was probably made during the 1930s.
    Many thanks for looking

Love the brooch! I rarely see intricate jewellry with moonstones around where I live. I think the brooch is wonderful!

Beautiful. Add Moonstones as a second category!

Isn't this wonderful Jean. I don't know how you find such wonders.
Even with the marvellous handwork she has been so clever leaving the top of the ring plain- it just balances so well.
(I have to say your hands are star worthy!)

Hi Karen, ???? thanks for your comments, I don't know were to start first, I really appreciate your comments on my hands lol. Yes this brooch is a cracker, it has everything, and them Moonstones take your breath away. I Suppose it's luck and in some degree hard work finding these things, this one was bought from a person I know. Yet again Karen thanks for dropping by.

Did you got the "dunlop" earrings?
      ;-)
    18. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Ahhhh, but they weren't Dunlop earrings, were you watching the auction?
    19. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Yes Jean, I was watching and bid far less (poor for now!) He he... I'm watching ... YOU! Mwahaha ;-)
Yep, Nossiter, I advised seller, but no answer and listed them again as Dunlop :-/
He had a matching brooch, I suppose it will be listed again as auction :-)
    20. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Yes, I hold my hands up I'm the guilty party, I'd been watching them for 9 days. Now I'm poor :-(

It's a good job it's been sold, phew, I'm relieved lol. I don't understand the seller, it's obviously Dorrie Nossiter not Sybil Dunlop.
    25. Jewels1900 Jewels1900, 8 years ago
Jean, outbid me. Those earrings went for a lot of money. Mind you, they are very good & Nossitor (of course).
    26. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Oops Jewel1900 sorry. They have broken the Bank but I think they are worth it. I've looked online and haven't seen a pair like these. I was thinking, what should I do with the top, I don't want Shephard hooks, but I think a yellow citrine or carnelian red stud would go nicely, I'm debating what colour. would value your opinion and anybody else who see this comment.
    27. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
If you don't want shepherd's hook, I think this kind of earrings would be suitable (more likely citrine, and bigger stud, with an open ring to hang the hoop.)

Do you remember the hooks I used with my Nossiter jadeite drops?http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/145022-dorrie-nossiter-earrings-completed
    29. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
Hi kyra, I have found some Citrine stud drop earrings which would match nicely. The problem I have is I used to wear very heavy earrings when I was younger, the holes have stretched, so I need the support of post earrings, I can imagine these earrings are going to be heavy. Thanks for your help kyra :-)

    32. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Aah! Good to know they work, I wondered if the support was efficient :-)

I've been looking on Pinterest at the Dorrie Nossiter earrings I bought, for the record I didn't pay anywhere near that price, it certainly would have broken the bank.

I thought you might be interested to know that I have a pendant and ear-rings which match this brooch. (I did have a second pair of ear-rings, but stupidly lost them! They may be out there somewhere....). I found all three items on separate occasions, for reasonable prices, too! I expect you've seen the website about Dorrie, which her nephew has set up? If not, it's well worth a look.
    38. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 7 years ago
Hi Dorriefan, first of all let me apologize for my late response. Yes I have seen the website your talking about. I would have been gutted if I would have lost a pair of earrings by her, how sad. I'm always on the look out for her jewellery, unfortunately her pieces are going for very high prices. Thanks for you comment, it's much appreciated.
