    This was on a table, surrounded by costume jewelry. I turned it over and saw the 585. The pin itself is also stamped 585. People must have thought it was one of those 1950s costume brooches which normally have "Western Germany" stamped somewhere on the back.

    Nope.

    I bought some very pretty silver pieces, too. Some for just 50 cents. Also a pair of stamped designer earrings.
