I acquired a Chinese art collection from my father Inlaw that recently past away and this was one of his favorite pieces from the collection. All I know about this is it is a wood carved statue, overall size is 10" wide x 24" tall x 8.6" depth painted dark brown. I believe it to be very old, hand carved and worth some money. I do not know what kind of wood it is or anything at all more than I just stated above but could really use any information anyone might be able to give to me on this piece. I am new to this but looking to become educated as much as possible as it seems very interesting to me.
Please let me know if you have any information on this piece. Any advice or info will be very helpful to me at this point.

Unreal is it a heavy wood beautifully carved anyone would be proud to own this item. Could it be Neptune
The figure might be Guan Gong aka Guan Yu. Beautifully carved.
