Sadler made in England marked nicely floral decorated "something" any idea what it is?
I normally associate Sadler with dinner services, ginger jars, tea caddies but this has me stumped.
14cm tall x 11.5cm wide and its quite narrow at 1.5cm measured at the lower opening. Gold edging on the circle base and on the top as decoration.
The only thing I can think of is maybe for dried flower arrangements.
It is a vase for posies and is called a posy trough. You can find images in vertical and horizontal, round, oval, square, configurations. Beswick, for instance, in their book calls it a posy trough.

A lot of people also just call it a posy holder (vase).

LOL@GeodeJem, absolutely agree! I was reading an article on Gotheburg where the author says as much, he said that it was merely profit that drove porcelain manufacturers to add handles to cups, first one, then two, then a saucer, then a lid, then a dish for the spoon, etc. Me, all I need is a pan and a fork, lol. ;)
