Scenic Oil on Canvas

The purchase of this piece was last summer. It has been in one of my favorite stores for sometime. I noticed it immediately upon entering the store and had to pass on purchasing it at the time. A few weeks later it was still there, with a nice discount that would be applied to it. And, yes, I bought. It something about scenes of mountains and farms that warms my heart. Unfortunately, it appears that someone deliberately destroyed the signature on this and I would like to know if anyone out these seen something similar. Hopefully, something in the painting's background or style.
