    katherines…
    (247 items)

So I saw this wild decanter yesterday, and had to have it! 13" from top of stopper to base, crackle, applied handle, stopper cloudiness in the neck, color goes from gold-orange at the base to red-orange at the bulb, polished pontil, some wear on the base and some residue inside the decanter, this has definitely been used. There was also residue around the spout ruffle and paint spatter on the body of the decanter which I managed to clean off, not sure how to remove the residue on the inside, perhaps one of you can clue me in as to how to clean. As far as maker, I've been looking and closest I have found is Pilgrim, which I know nothing about, but it's a start, unless someone else has a different theory. All the ones I saw didn't have a stopper, so hard to compare. That bright over-sized bulb certainly is an attention grabber! I hope you enjoyed seeing this, and thanks for looking.

      Beautiful!
I love the color. What I use on crystal is polident that I get from my mother.
Mix or with some water and let it sit foe hour or so.
Please make sure this is ok on colored glass before you try it.

      Great FIND

Thanks for the love, Collectomaniac, fortapache, mikelv85, kyratango, and jscott0363. :)

Thanks, kyratango, yes, exactly, the color and shape make people happy! :)

Thanks, Scott, yes, a nice size, and the crackle glass is beautiful. :)

Thanks, Gruff, I'm glad you love the color, I do too. Pilgrim called this color Tangerine -- if this is Pilgrim, which I still don't know, it's rare, an early piece, and even more rare with the stopper, so yes, a great find. Thanks for the advice about Polident, that's very helpful! :)

What a wonderful conversation piece this will make. Majestic and beautiful at the same time.....
In my country there's a denture product called Steradent which I use, with no ill effects even on iridescent glass, all the time. Equally I use anti calcaire/anti limescale products too.

Thanks, sklo, it is a conversation piece, isn't it? Thanks for the advice regarding the denture product, in the US there is Polident, as Gruff above posted, so will def pick some up to use! :)

Thanks, Sean, that color is really awesome and more so in person. :)

Thanks, Elisabethan, the color is very intense, it actually screams hot, lol! :)

Thanks for the love, Nicefice, and your compliment, that's just what I think, this is glass eye candy!! :)

Very beautiful, colorful and different looking. Eye candy for sure. It makes me crazy not being able to get the dirt out of some glass. You know me, I put it in temped water with a small amount of dawn and shake and find anything soft I can fit down in there to rub around. Good luck. I'm getting a little better at letting some of it stay there. ;) Thank you for sharing. It's beautiful.

Thanks for the love, CindB, vetraio50, OneGoodFind, kennethleblanc, AnnaB, NevadaBlades, lovedecanters, and charcoal. :)

I have to get better at checking my email, lol. Thanks, OGF, I'm glad you enjoyed seeing this decanter. And thanks for sharing your cleaning tips. :)

Thanks, kenneth, it is an eye catcher, all right. I'm glad you liked seeing it. :)

Nevada, I'm not gonna ask what kind of womens' boudoirs you've been looking in! :)

charcoal, yes, I think so. It's so hard to tell with these crackle glass pieces as they are attributed to Pilgrim, Blenko, and a few others. But the big bulb stopper is typical of Pilgrim, so that's what I'm going with for now. :)

      Nice!

On my crackle piece, the applied handle is broken,...doesn't have the coil on the end,... towards the base,...and no stopper.
    21. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 8 years ago
AmatoorPikr, it does seem rare to get them with the stopper, you can see as they are so big and probably easy to topple out and break. Still a beautiful decanter made of beautiful glass in any condition. :)

Nice find, great that you still have the original stopper! It reminds me of the style of Blenko crackle glass in West Virginia.

Love the color -- INTENSE !!

Reminds me of pilgrim or Blenko Glass items, so those would be where I would start looking. I was getting sleepy BUT THIS COLORED GLASS JUST WOKE ME UP ....LOL

Rose, sorry for the late response to your comment, yes the color is very intense, and thank you for the suggestion, I did search Blenko but found no matches to the stopper, so still thinking this is Pilgrim. :)
