In addition to collecting early pre-1900 wooden cameras, I look for makers’ advertisements with actual pictures made by these early cameras. This is an excellent condition advertising card for an early Blair Hawk-Eye camera. This is a true manufacturer’s advertising piece to show the quality of images a camera can make as opposed to later RPPCs (Real Photographic Post Cards).

The 4 x 5 inch image is a contact print made from a Blair negative and is technically excellent - incredibly sharp with great tonal range. It’s much better in real life than what I have posted here. The photograph is mounted on a very thick dark green card with beveled gold edges.

The architectural subject matter is wonderful and maybe a sharp eyed CW’er can identify it.

Update ... thanks go out to valentino97 for identifying the buildings as part of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

valentino97 ... I am impressed. You nailed it. A couple minutes of Google searching your suggestion turned up similar images of the same building and obelisk. Many thanks! - Rob
