Hello! I picked up this metal/brass? Bowl at local thrift store. Any idea of who makes it/year? It's a nice vibrant bowl w/blue on inside of bowl and lid. It looks like perfect condition. Thank you!

The paper label made in..., is usually a post 1920 export label. Nice piece a few more years and it will be antique (100 yrs +)

Well that's interesting, as I would have called this Jingfa contemporary. Perhaps one of the Asian experts will set me straight!

People's Republic of China usually refers to 70s era, doesn't it?
    5. wexval, 8 years ago
Katherine, can't set you straight when you are right. 70s + is on the money.

Thanks everybody for your information!.. Oh well, it only cost $1.90 :).

Then you got a bargain. Jingfa is lovely, and well made contemporary cloisonne. :)

Thanks, wexval, I'm trying to learn, can't ever match an expert like you, though! :)

My understanding is that before the mid 70s there were no trade relations with China, and after 1978 when trade relations were normalized, labels went back to Made in China. So the window for that particular label was brief and specific, no?

Well that's news to me. That label after the 80s I've never seen or known of it being used, of course I'm no expert and will have to defer to your greater knowledge.

Perhaps this blog post will be of interest in determining the decades during which this label was used by the Chinese:

      1970s-80s seems likeliest to me.
