Thanks Peter. As per the certificate, the sellers were only supposing this to be a Kestner. The '5' marking would indicate a size number. It may be an unknown maker. The amount of companies making dolls back in those days was incredible, some more prominent, some smaller lesser known companies. The body on this doll isn't porcelain, it's a jointed composition body. I know exactly what doll the left certificate is referring to, the 116 A is a Kammer & Reinhardt character baby (also a toddler version), Simon Halbig provided the bodies. My Mum owns one, I absolutely love it's face. She named it Frederick, so it's always that to me. Thanks for sharing.

No worries Peter. Please do share a shot if you find out the whereabouts of the 116A. It's got a gorgeous, mirthful face. A very popular character example in the doll world. With the certificates you have, please do keep in mind that they are from the 80's, and as with most antiques and collectibles, the market and collectors interests fluctuate. Unfortunately, doll prices have dropped considerably since approx the mid-2000's, with the rise of the internet. Enjoy your doll, she's a beauty.

I agree that wig looks replaced and if Kestner the plaster pate maybe gone . And yes doll prices have fallen on antique dolls drastically since your appraisal . She is special in that she has a wardrobe of clothes however . When dolls have just size number it is never a known maker but one can attribute a dolls characteristics to a maker. She looks like a Kestner doll on fully jointed composition body and is called a socket head doll .

They are usually priced high on this site but this is your other doll just a bit smaller .
