I just picked this toaster up at an antique shop... as you can see it was quite filthy and no cord. I put it in a cleaning solution for a few minutes and here it is. For its' age it has very little rust on it.
The patent date stamped on the bottom reads 1914...I plugged it in...it smoked a little then started working..the stamped section also names it a Corona by the Lander Frary and Clark Co from New Britain, Conn. Again I just liked the look of it...not bad for something to work after maybe close too 100 years.

What was the cleaning solution you used? I have a number of old toasters that I want to sell and cleaning them up may help.

I would be interested also on what you used to clean.

Sorry I haven't been on lately...I used hot water, dishsoap and vinegar. After a little soaking I used a scouring sponge and gently rubbed off the loose old grease.Rinsed with water. I then towel dried the parts "not the coils, they are fragile" and used a hair drier to dry it the rest of the way as not to promote rust and not damage the coils.
