The figure is 32" tall and base is 13" round 50" from base to where shade mounts. 58" from base to top of shade. no markings on lamp. Shade has tag on it that says Capri Original No 6437 or 6439 . other half of tag has The CAPRI original is a creation of the foremost artists and designers. it has been specially styled to add charm and beauty to your home. Again and info would help. Thanks

The figure is a common one, seen about 2 days ago at an auction. This looks to be made of plaster but photos are not good enough to really comment.

Yes it would be clay or plaster with some type of gold leaf / gilding. I looked for Capri original company and found nothing. maybe not the company or being over 50 + years old they could be out of business. I can post better pics if that would help

There were many plaster companies working out of italy during the mid 1960s and at that time the taste was for statues made of anything, metal, plaster and there was a lot of export going on in California during that time to the early 1970's. Not sure who made this but it likely came out during that time. Capri was a shade making company so whoever used the lamp last had shades from that company. I would not use it necessarily as the firm that made the lamp. Like I said there were a lot of plaster companies. Most made 50's -70's lamps like Continental Art Co. Ltd. and Reglor are good ones to check out. Yours were a particular style that was popular also but not sure on who the maker was. There were so many unmarked and a lot of work was copied. To know what I am talking about maybe check out this website and look on left side to categories. Should say something also about Reglor lamps which were so copied that they had many lawsuits launched though it seems they won few of them. :

Phil and bladerunner....I have added a few more Photos . Also this lamp originally had a base, making it a floor lamp not a table lamp or at the time it could be used for either, I would think. just can not find any info online on this style of lamp or even anything close for sale online... thanks again for any assistance you can provide..

yes especially if it had a base. Bladerunner has some in his "Collections" button. There was like said " a lot of export companies out of italy. Did you go to bladerunners home page where he has added a lot of examples in his Collections (just under the love and like buttons.) Check out their examples. What you have is very nice as the detail on such things as fingers is beautiful in your example. I used to go around buying a lot of the tables which were real marble on a lot of them. Especially with the plaster statues and plaster table base. There were a lot of bad ones made but your example is exemplary !

Also if it you want to, if the streaks in the finish bothers you, there is a gold paste that would work well on your piece. You apply it with your finger ! It comes in a small tube at a Michaels store. ASK for it there. Not sure though if they have that really nice rich gold that yours is in. If you try it I would try a very small amount first maybe on the backside. Prob could be removed easy w/ turpentine a small dab would take it off probably without taking off the original finish. After you open the tube it will harden in a short while so nice to have a new tube. Good for other projects also. Sometimes the paint or rub is not in that beautiful rich gold so choose what you want.

Most people would like it kept in the condition its in. I am not among those all the time :~))

Sorry for the trouble. I rather like yours the way it is. Just keep it away from damp areas where the finish can deteriorate more.

Yes, You are correct. It originally had a base with it, I think at the time my mother liked it on a table in the front window. I think she may have threw away the base because she never used it. It may have just got lost in moving too...
