Hello everyone, I could really use some help identifying what this item is. You can open it and there is a latch to keep it closed however there is no hook on top or chain. I'm told it may be from Turkey however the seller was not certain. It seems too large for a tea infuser and the holes are rather large. Any help figuring this one out would be appreciated. Thank you!

It may be the infusers used for baths, they hold flowers or herbs. They were used a lot in Europe in the 19th and early 20th Century.

Thank you Mommaboo! That's very helpful. Do you know the name of it or any key words that I can research to find more information?
Have a great day and thanks again!

Check India. Hinduism uses an egg in one of their religious ceremonies, I can't remember what it is but a golden egg is significant to their culture.
