This is one of two Pierre Cardin dresses I found in a little antique shop. The quality and construction intrigued me so much that I spent the last year researching Cardin.

I 've poured through vintage internet fashion sites, newspaper archives, museum collections, 60's fashion magazines and even department store records to find out more about Cardin and to try to precisely pinpoint the date of the dress. What I discovered is that pinpointing an exact date is nearly impossible to do, given that there were likely 200+ dresses in each Cardin collection. The closest I could estimate is that the dresses were purchased at a fashion show at Frederick & Nelson Designer Room in Spring 1970. The most comparable Cardin dress I have found is at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

What I love most about this dress is the beautiful quality and the magical iconic touch it has of Pierre Cardin at the height of his career. I also love how contemporary it is, in spite of the fact that it is more than 50 years old. I love the rich blue color, the circular cutouts and the assymetrical back zipper. The dress transports me back in time.
