    (439 items)

Extracted from my crowded display cabinet ;-)

My mother bought it in the 70' at a Chinese exposition at Galeries Lafayette, in Paris.

At this time, these department stores, Le Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, held one expo a year and sold modern items, clothes decorative porcelain ware, jewelry, but also few antiques.

I don't remember the price she paid, but at this time, Chinese antiques were very affordable!

Both sides are decorated, one with a poem and signatures in red seal.

It is 6.8cm or 2.5/8" high, 3.5cm or 1.3/8" wide.

Coral, oxidised brass lid with cork stopper and bone spoon.

    Some brown powder remnants inside!

This bottle is in the style of Zhou Leyuan. You can search auction results re his work at Sotheby’s by typing his name. Values ranging between few thousand USD and over ten thousand USD. There is no official records of Zhou’s birth or death but his works appeared during the late 19th century and early 20th century.

I can’t tell from this bottle if it is Zhou’s work but seeing it was purchased in the 70’s then I guess it wouldn’t be a modern copy for sure.

Best of luck and great collection Kyratango!

Canberraman, would you believe I didn’t see your comment!!!
CW had a long problem with notifications :-((
Thank you so much for your informations!

I just posted it on a FB group and got a traduction of the poem:
      The poem
??????? Towering green mountains n white clouds
??????? Sunset, chicken and dog, a few rural houses.
??????? There is no fisherman on the river
??????? Peach flowers fall that shut the door
      ??? Signature
    24. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
the signatures does, not make sense, i think not even in the aoxiang zhai period
    25. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
no i think it is more complicated , this has to go an expert , the addition is unclear , but it is not uncommon not to sign with WU Zi =1888 Ji Chou- 1889or GengYin 1890 , its probably not an renchen otherwise it was different signed 1892, i think its 1891 year , sorry it is total chaos in my head ( epilepsy) , but if i am right it,s a lot of money
    26. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
i am running xinmao which is the chinese year 1891 , i am not not an expert in this , but i thought i have seen this in the Braga collection or Setzer collection , the point is the owner got rights on it , so i am actually helpless, personnaly i think i am not way off but i am arrogant m,,,,,,,,,,,

      best regards waki
    27. apostata apostata, 3 years ago
much earlier pieces are not so likely because the jimao= 1879 pieces etc are dedicated to xingquang signed different , so now i gonna play poker

      best regards Waki

Apostata, thank you so much for your insights, I wouldn't want your brain to explode trying to find more info ;-)
This is great help already, and when I get the occasion to show it to an antique snuff bottles expert, be sure I will update with the result.
      Take care!
