The factory: Karlovarské sklo Moser Glassworks, Karlovy Vary, CR.
The artist: Jirí Šuhájek.
This was from his first collection for Moser after his return there in 1972 as a designer.
Jirí Šuhájek was born in Pardubice in 1943 and attended the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenicky Senov. He started work in the Moser glassworks in Karlovy Vary in 1962. In 1964 he continued his studies in the studio of Professor Stanislav Libensky at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, later at the Royal College of Art in London.
One of the modern greats in my opinion.
A trip to a Vinnies last Friday and I saw this vase in a cabinet.
No signature.
But it was familiar.
I had seen it before.
At home I checked my Skrdlovice book and patterns just in case .... No.
I then asked some Facebook groups .... Australian ??? .... Ross Mckenzie said 'No'. Off to the Japanese group and Karen Pfaff said 'No'.
So I bit the bullet and went to Ing. Jindrich Parik's site to go through one of the magazines he has available there online : Glasrevue in German.
I started at 1969 and moved through them all ... 12 copies each year until I got to February 1974. There it was ..... under the title "A New Name & a New Collection". ... "Ein Neue Name und Eine Neue Kollektion": an article by Jaromira Marsikova with the illustrations I had seen of these vases a year or so ago when I was researching Jiri Suhajek.
Hard to see, but I believe the catalogue number of this one is "rotblau Nr 54232 91 (01?)"
Your collection makes me nervous. Everything is so beautiful and expensive looking.

OGF - Vet has immaculate taste, incredible knowledge, and the ability to find gold where we would not see it. I agree his collection is beautiful and looks expensive (and would be if we tried to replicate it!)
You can never mistake quality and design signed or not. This is all that and more. Great find Vet ! :)
