    Hi CW Gang:

Got this metal globe at a garage sale for .50 cents back in 2008. On the metal it says made by ** Chad Valley England ** and has a notation for the appointment for Her Majesty the Queen (HMQ). Gee when you watch the Antiques Roadshow and see what some of the toys go for....this could be a little sleeper of a collectible here.

I mean put it all together: Toy, warranted, metal (litho), from Wool-Worths, and dated to 1939...I think my .50 cents may have been a good investment ;)

I was told that pre 1950s globes are an coming collectible! Look at the Globe at Europe and see IF Germany is split in 2. If it's one then it's pre 1945..... Or post 1990s. Also look at Africa...On MINE the Belgians still had power over The Belgian Congo, but only from 1908 till 1960. The Belgian Congo was ONLY between 1949 and 1960 -- 11 year window for dating these. Any other info welcomed !!!

I posted this in Reference to this post here:

Hi Rose, these are just my observations since i'm not very good at history and geography:
on pic 3, the USSR doesn't mention Belarus or Moldova although they were among the first countries to be made part of this union (since 1922). Armenia seems to be placed outside of the soviet borders which is very strange because it was its part since 1922.
The map does show 3 Baltic countries as part of the USSR (if Yellow is for USSR) which were made part of the USSR in 1940, so the map has to be sometime post-1940 but pre-1945.
Not sure if the white spot in the middle is the reflection from your flash, but whatever is there can provide more clues. Or not. =)

I found when dating a globe, it's been easier to use the countries in Africa, seems they changed more often than my shirt, in the mid-century :-)

Love this one, the colours on the globe are much more vibrant then on mine.
For 50cents you did very well!
