This ring was given to me after my boyfriends brother passed. I'm just wanting to knw what type of turquoise this is? And what significance the ring has w it's unique band. I knw nothing else about it. How can I care for it cause I knw it needs cleaning.

I'm hoping to learn how to care for this ring. And if I can convert it to a pendant?

I amateur mined turquoise when young. When our "pit" got flooded, the turquoise exposed to the water turned to white chalk. In other words, don't soak it .

W.T. Johnson is a Navajo silversmith. Researching his work may provide details on the type of turquoise. The patina/oxidation on silver gives it character and many collectors are strongly against having it removed. If it's very dirty, gentle wiping with soap and water will do the trick.
