This was in my family's home for years, and I own it now. I'm just trying to identify it, and maybe the artist. I think it is Japanese, pardon my ignorance if it isn't.

      Is this made of ivory?

The vase itself is heavy, about 8 pounds, maybe clay or ceramic. But the outside maybe is bone??? Can't really tell.

Your Asian themed vase is made of lost wax molded resin composition. The mark on the base reads 'Ivory Master', and the vase was made in Italy sometime after 1960. This is the third or fourth example of this wide mouth vase that I know of and there is another style by the same maker more vase-like with elephant head handles.

Hi Kyra, I had forgotten about the post two months ago, but how in the world did you come up with the one from five years ago? You did some great research here.

Wexval! Only type ivory in search all show and tell case, beside post an item :-)
Plus I created collections for "resin" and "fake", so I can retrieve quickly examples...
