I'm quite sure I'd see lots of Muskegon bottles if I went to a Holland, Michigan, antique store; just like, here in Muskegon, I see many Holland, Michigan, bottles.
As many of you know, I like paper-labels-- A lot.
So, albeit very worn, I picked this Holland Seven-Up Bottling Co. bottle up for the grand sum of $1 and 6 cents of tax.
This is an early '60s bottle found, likely, under a porch or in a crawl-space under a house-- common places to find bottles-- as there is still a leaf (pic 1) seen in it, as well as some dirt and bugs.
When I picked it up, the label was hanging off of it and covered in dust/plant matter (always a plus for me, as it ensures lower prices in most cases.) I used acid-free rubber cement to put it back on the bottle, and a very soft, dry paint brush can get dirt off-- or just one's hand, if careful.
This is actually my first 7-Up bottle. I never bought or found one of their more common ACLs. I guess it just wasn't as popular in my town.
Very nice find! I've never seen a paper label 7 up. A few that i have are all ACLs. I have one soda bottle with remains of a paper label with some identifiable words but can't find the brand anyway lol
If you watch and search enough, you can find them on e-Bay fairly cheaply if they're before 1940. Down to a dollar, not including shipping.

I didn't dig the labeled one, my neighbor has a garage full of vintage soda and beer bottles, so i got one or two of each kind, $1 each. Most of them local brands i don't see on the internet, i'll post them some day. I don't know why i got them, they are not really what i'm interested in...i need to really become more selective, i'm running out of space lol This one was among them.
These last few days I've been posting new bottles. I had already made one box for a yard sale. Now I made another box to sell off at a yardsale/bottle club. Hutches, blobs, tooled-crowns, crowns, ACL, embossed, milks, etc-- I've finally run out of room and picked what I liked most to keep. LOL.
I'll likely be specialising in paper labels and my town.
If it's local, I pick it up. If from a town I've not heard of, or has a picture on it, I pick it up (if cheap). Go for paper labels with an image over just a words/numbers logo.
As for garages and basements for paper labels.... Terrible in general. Might as well put it in the room you shower in. It would deteriorate just the same there.
Of course, I know people with finished basements. And other who just store boxes and boxes of bottles, not even knowing anymore what they have. I don't ever wanna be like that.
I don't ever wanna be like that either! lol but that's how i got 4 crates of various old bottles and jars, etc (with crates!) for dirt cheap at a garage sale from some older guy who probably did just that, accumulating them his whole life.
Your yard sale destash sounds like every bottle i would love to buy! My yard sale destash is waaay more boring but i hope there will be someone who likes mid-century glass.
Bottling crates? There is ONE I want. Found in a trailer of books I watch to make sure they don't rot (some people bought out a used book store.)
I asked to purchase it, but it's not theirs. They're not sure whose it is. I've been asking on it for... 8 months? It's the only one known, according to our local bottle expert, from a short-lived company here over 100 years ago.
A few I've sold off already. What kind of bottles are you looking for?
Honestly, i'm not sure what kind they are (the crates), they look old and have some inscriptions, but i didn't even read yet what they say, weekends are so short =(
Keep asking about the crate, sometimes stars align and things happen!
The kind of bottles i'm looking for...anything prior to machine-made. Really, anything that looks rustic, crude and unique. I'm interested in a wide variety of styles, forms and colors more from the artistic perspective than historic. I mean i absolutely appreciate the history they represent, but i'm really bad with dates, places and facts, so in-depth analysis of glass of the kind you undertake will never be possible in my case lol
Most of the crates in the trailer weren't very deep, and the paint was mostly gone. Hard to read. This one was painted inside and out, deep, had a bottle opener later added to it, and was in fair condition beyond dry rot. Only one before the '40s.
Well, if you want you can check out some of my stuff that 'must go.' I need room for my own pursuits. LOL.

Alright. Cuz I do have some interesting ones. In terms of shape, as you mentioned 'artistic', this one takes the cake:

Embossing isn't too strong on it, though. It's labeled as a 'fake' on a site, but it is actually real, just more like 1930s than 1890s. Codd bottle.
I have never seen paper label 7up. The most unusual 7up for me was an amber squat bottle 7up I found last year. Your paper label is a great find and now I know to watch for them.
I've heard of but never seen the amber ones.
The ones before 1940 are the desired ones.
Just saw your post above. It sure is an interesting bottle...why are you getting rid of it, it sounds like something special, at least a conversation piece where you try to explain to people why it's not fake! =)
It's British. I have 4 British bottles (as in, embossed with a place in Britain like Manchester.) 3 were gifts, which I will always keep. This one was bought by me.
I'd like to specialise in Michigan/paper labels.
