Deutsche grammofon has the second largest cataloque in the world
They are espescialy known sfor the great artists that they employed
for their recordings, sound quality can vari a lot from absolutely superb to a rather dull and dark sound, i collect the superb sounding ones, this means i have to listen and buy a lot to find the right ones.
1 st record:
SLPM 138649 Monte Carlo Concert Gala, Satie, Dukas , Louis Freumaux MCO, special import for the usa in very thick hardboardcover.
this is one of the great sounding ones, with absolutely dark background and no noise at all, the music comes to you as out of nothing, with stunning clarity and impact, giving a clear insight to the music.
all hardboardcover specialimport dgg lps have this stunning soundquality,i buy all that i can get of this labeltype
2 nd record:
SLPM 138999, Schneiderhan violin, Beethoven violinconcert op 61, Eugen Jochum BPO.
this is a truly great violin record with one of best, this record conways the emotion that Beethovens music demands, he was a composer driven by emotions from his rather tragic life, and this can be heard in his music, if it is performed like Schneiderhan does it, sound quality is above normal level
3 rd record:
SLPM 138002-138003, Beethovens 9 th Symphony,BPO Ferenc Fricsay
This is one of the best Beethovens 9 th Symphony ever, not because it is the best sounding, but because it is the best conducted by Fricsay conwaying the great emotion of this ninth and last symphony from Beethoven, which takes you though Beethovens life from he is born to his zenith as an old and deaf man, this is what this record will do.
4 th record:
SLPM 138118,Joaquin Rodrigo Harpconcert, Zabaleta on harp BPO Marzendorfer
Harpmusic is quite rare on records, there is not much written for harp, it is a difficult instrument to master and compose for.
this record is the ultimate in harprecords, the sound is absolutely stunning, every little tone from the harp comes trough to the listner, you get taken by the beauty of this instrument and its rich and glowing tones, and here it comes from a true master on this instrument, the soundquality of this record is superb
