I bought a abandon storage unit at auction in Colorado and I found a vintage (1850's to 1883 era) buffalo skin robe buried in a box in the unit. This is a beautiful awesome piece of history. The unit was owned by a full blooded Assiniboine woman so I am suspecting this must of been a family heirloom that was passed down through the geneations. I personally spent hours researching everything that I could find to figure out what I found. We also had wonderful input from appraisers, museum curator's, educators and native Americans helping me to identify and date it. This rug has generated a ton of interest and excitement amongst these professionals. We are suspecting it to be a cerimonial robe but we are still working on that. I am reaching out to anyone that may be able to identify or read the symbols and any suggestions on building a display box and all comments, recommendations and suggestions as far as apprasisals, authenticator's, experts, insurance, storage and displaying ideas. I would love to hear from everyone. Please call me also, Jon 970-456-6071 or email jeffryesjon2@gmail.com. I can send a photo gallery to whomever wishes to view more details on the robe. Thank you and enjoy.
