I hope this is an ok post.
This was found in an old barn in western North Dakota can't make out any markings but thought it was an interesting piece to pick up. I haven't had any luck in my personal research. Any leads would be appreciated.

There are a couple acorns on it.
There use to be a shield of some sort on the handle but it has fallen of. It appears that it was possibly glued on.

      Try looking up Hirschfänger

Thanks for the lead. It does look like it could be a Hirschfänger.
I was thinking it might be German but wasn't sure. Now to track down the specifics
