Sorry, the purse is cotton, white beading, it is the hard ware that comes from early 20th century plastic that feels like bone or shell.
The plastic I think your talking about is lucite or bakalite. And from the looks of the last picture I would go with lucite. Nice bags!
If I wanted to sell them, where would be the best place and how much should I ask?
I guess you could try Ebay. But it seems people are looking to different sites sales have been down for many sellers on Ebay. Etsy is another site that deals with only hand made and vintage items. That would be my suggestion. As far as an asking price, the black beaded bag you could probably ask $15 and the white one $30. This is a set price and I think if you were to use an auction venue like Ebay I think you would likely see similar final values. I think you should keep them and use them. Good luck!
I would love to, but they are actually my brother inlaws and he already told me no. :o(
That's not very nice! Offer him $20 and if he still says no tell him to have fun trying to sell them himself! Family members are always the hardest to bargain with. Hope you end up with them:)
