Found this old bike behind closing lumber yard. Owner had brought it in from his barn with another small old Schwinn bike. Bought the old Rocket for $2.50. He wanted $5 for both. My friend got the other to use in flower garden. I love the lines on this bike. Made in Chicago U.S.A.

wow nice find and great deal. they are very fun to ride and get alot of attention
Wow...seems like these types of finds and prices (in this case, may as well have been free) seem to happen in rural midwest/eastern/southern states. I'm from Southern California and this bike, in this condition would sell for at least $150-$200 here. People around here really love antiques and will pay the price for nostalgia. Excellent find. Wish I had those kinds of finds.
I was surprised to see this bike which is exactly like mine.I am the original owner and it is in better condition than the one inshown here.I got it for Christmas either in 1947 or 1948-thinking about restoring it -any comments.
I'd like to restore it. 1947 or 1948? Wow! I think if you had it for a Christmas present I would restore it.
I bought a bike just like the bike shown but better shape, I ride it often, I did not realize it was made in 1947-48, I like it very much everyone asks me "where did you get that bike", I bought 20 years ago for 10 dollars
