This chair belonged to my great-great grandfather, Owen Hughes, who lived from 1842 to 1910. His name is engraved on the chair. It was beloved by him. He emigrated from Camas, Wales to Remsden, New York as a young man. We don't know if the chair was from Wales or New York. It is definitely handmade. The rocker doesn't rock really well-- it sort of allows one to lean back, but not rock. The chair is 38" high, 20" deep, and 22" wide. I don't know what kind of wood it is -- but it's all the same kind. Any information about this chair would be appreciated.
