I saw this weird vase today and fell in love. First of all it has this kind of funky shape -- sort of bulbous on top then goes in. Second, I love the way it looks like sand art.
It is about a foot tall and glazed inside and out. I can't make out the mark on the bottom, which may be because it is a glop of clay rather than a mark. Does anyone recognize it? I've never seen anything quite like it. The colors are thin and in some cases, like the green, very bright and transparent. It looks like it was hand thrown to me but I'm no expert.
As always, I appreciate any thoughts any of you have about who might have made it and when and where.
