I have here E Remington Rolling Block from of a great estate
sale
So I'm looking for information on the rolling bloc
I had taken it to a gun shop and was informed it may be a model 1867 rolling Block please read on below
By the way the gun looks on the handle and the butt of the gun it appears it could be as early as 1867. I am also confused why it would have several patent dates
Wpatent dates work but you would not have a patent and then produced a gun after the patent
Unless the gun was an early model made before the first patent date and then converted to one of the later dates
Second thought was it a ball and cap conversion. The barrel is 34 inches.There are several marks stamped on my gun. 35 30 33 and px. What does px mean. I talked about having a barrel or caliber measured. I would really like to know the truth about converted and rolling blocks as I have discussed and would it be possible that my gun was a ball and cap and what method was used if any to convert these guns.

The Rolling block is not a c&b conversion. Probably .50 caliber. Guns often have multiple patent dates as patents are renewed or improvements are made.
Like blunder says, the rolling block was never cap and ball, but always a metallic cartridge gun. I'd wager him a beer that your rifle will be a .43 rather than a .50 though - payable the very next time he's in the Great Northwest or I am down in the islands, mon.
Remington exported these guns all over the world in different calibers and with lots of variations. I can't tell you which model you have for sure from your pics. I have a New York Militia Model in .50-70 caliber, and an Egyptian Military one in .43 Egyptian Caliber, which is not interchangeable with the .43 Spanish - my point being you might not know enough from just slugging the bore. If you are curious enough, you might want to take the trouble to do a chamber casting.
