This is a beautiful miniature and we bought it at a low price. The filigree is very primitive and there are missing parts. The first picture depicts who I believe is Saint Peter holding the keys of the heaven while reading a book. The golden accents are more greyish at the nude eye, look the second picture that was taken without the flash on. On the other side you can appreciate a woman holding a candle and a pitcher. This woman is Blessed Maria Torribia a Spanish peasant woman who is believed to have married Saint Isidore, look at the last picture. She herself was eventually beatified by the Roman Catholic Church, and is known in Spain as Santa María de la Cabeza (in English, "Saint Mary of the Head"). Her cause for sainthood is currently on process, within the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. I believe it was done in South America about 1850. I will appreciate any commentary.

thanks kyratango for the comment yes very unusual, also the beata is not popular here in Argentina, yes his husband San Isidro. I thought that this hint could tell me something about the origin, perhaps something done for the soldiers because of the dress she is wearing

What an interesting piece of religious art, kivatinitz. I've spent a great deal of time admiring each picture of the work. That is a beautiful ornate silver filigree frame, you can see where it is undamaged how the artisan who created it was very talented. Thank you for sharing this, I hope someone here can help you find out more about it. :)

to be honest i haven,t much of a clue, it does,not seem like a missionary piece, strange natives got no narrative( history ) with this
nothing wrong with the filigree , you can,t expect sturdiness and heavy silver here and it not 18 century
this is not a normal motivo de hoja, the inner framework (marko interior) is strange also
i lack the skills for this you got an overflow left marko interior in comparison the the right, i don,t know what is going on, i don,t know if they refraimed it or maybe an add on
sorry it is too difficult for me, a layman guess is late 19 century
