Vintage or perhaps antique sailing ship needle work. I've seen similar work described as Sailors Woolies but not sure if this qualifies. As I've read sailors would do simple needle work while to past the time on voyages. Pretty sure the yarn is wool and is pretty darn fragile. Piece was framed under glass with a back tag that looks old from San Antonio TX. At the bottom of the piece is what looks like a ink stamped date of 1762 on the canvas - can't imagine the piece is really that old maybe hand written identify the age of the ship or if it was some kind of "Kit". Seems pretty crude to have been and has no other stitch pre-stamped lines. Anyway would love to know more about the piece and wondered what ya'll thought.
