I found this set for sale locally. I love the style but can not find anything about it. I went and saw it yesterday and it looked well made. The only problem is that I know nothing about furniture. To me it looked like solid burl wood with other exotic woods inlays but it could be cheap wallpaper under a laminate seal for all I know. The only identifying mark I could find was the signiture pictured. Also, the magnets inside the door was marked Milano.

The set inclures a dinning table (curved wood in photos - a piece of glass goes on top of it, 4 chairs, a cabinet (not sure what it is for, smaller than a buffet, maybe old tv cabinet) and a coffee table (not pictured- offset bi-level circles. One glass and one inlaid wood.)

I know furniture is expensive and the price is not bad but is kind of a lot for me to spend right now.

My questions: What is the style? Any guesses on manufacturer/artist? What year is it from? How can it tell if it is quality or a cheap set?

    Thank you all,

    Matt

I believe this was made by Heals in the late 1940s-1950s. The design is reminiscent of pieces by Gio Ponti of the same era.

Wow, thank you for the quick response! I will research them when I get home. And I think I will take you advise and go BUY it! :)

It's about the same price as a dinning room table at a typical furniture store and has a LOT more character. I just didn't want to find out it was Walmart blow out sale piece from last year. Lol

i think it looks more memphis design from the 1980s. no less great though!

Thank you ho2cultcha! I was watching the conversation on the other similar piece. The 80s and Memphis design fit better with the sellers story.

However, to support dizzydaves analysis I did find this: https://iconic20thcentury.com/40s-50s-amazing-art-deco-inlaid-veneered-lacquered-coffee-table-gio-ponti-style/

I am slowly learning furniture design. From what I can tell it might not be an investment that I could make money off of, but it will be a nice conversation piece.
