I bought this ring at an antique store, and I am not really sure what the stone is. I tried to research it but the only thing I found that was sort of similar to it was fire opal.

This stone looks like a Mexican Fire Opal. I have a few pieces myself. I love it.

The stone has a very nice fire; with all the matrix showing, it would be called Boulder Opal, I believe. Check out my post with one of those: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/90890-modernist-silver-and-boulder-opal-pendant
