    I found this item at an estate sale and picked it up because it is u our and beautiful. But, I don't know anything about it and wonder if it is an authentic Native American basket.

      it looks like it's almost water-tight. nice!

      No, it's African, not Native American. A bundle-coiled palm fiber basket, that resembles some Native American basketry, but is the wrong combination of materials, construction techniques, colors, and patterns for it to be American Indian.
