We always chase the nicest cars but I bet most collectors know what I mean by having "filler" cars. Edgy, but they fill a space missing in a category. When you find the nice example..., The "filler" goes into a box or un-viewable area. Others go back into boxes. It is those re-boxed cars I enjoy finding. Most are repairable.
