I got this ring from my mom. She had it for any years; it comes probably from my grandmother. I don't recall it ever having a stone and I don't know why she kept it in this condition.

Because it comes from my mom, I was thinking to have it repaired. The problem is that I have no idea what kind of stone could have been in the original setting. I don't know why, but I seem to be able to imagine an aquamarine looking appropriate.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking:)

An Aquamarine would look super in that setting! My mother has a huge oval aquamarine cocktail ring which she bought in the 1950s.

If this was my setting, I would have an emerald cut obsidian put in just because I love obsidian.

Good idea, Efesgirl. I have a few pieces of jewelry that need fixing. I will try to find a good/reasonable jeweler and hopefully get an idea if it makes sense to have it fixed. Because I never saw my mom or grandma wearing this ring, I am not emotionally attached to it. For that reason, anything will do:)

Thanks, Mary. I wasn't sure if the design of the ring demands a certain stone. I am off for the summer in a few weeks and will see if I can have it fixed then:)

I have a very similar one with a pale acquamarine, and is very old before 1930. Here is one similar https://wanelo.com/p/47859740/vintage-art-deco-sterling-silver-simulated-aquamarine-ring-size-6-3-4-antique-1920s-flower-filigree-light-aqua-blue-glass-stone-jewelry

Looks a bit Art Deco, lovely setting. :)

Can you tell the country of origin from the marks? That could help decide on the stone.

Lovely setting, the garland around is so nice!
Any transparent stone would be beautiful in it, ametyst, citrine, aquamarine....

Kivatinita, thanks for the link. his image is kind of what I imagined my ring to look like with a stone:)
Thanks, katerinescollections. I remember seeing settings like that before. Maybe it's some kind of revival style?
Davyd286, there are two marks but they are hard to read. my guess is that the ring is German.
Kyratango, I agree. I trust your exquisite taste:)
And to all: sorry for relying so late. I have issues with my e-mail and don't receive any notifications:(
